1. Gingerbread Village @ Sheraton Seattle
The Sheraton hotel in downtown Seattle, showcases the most exquisite life-size village made of gingerbread. Mouth-watering creations made of candies and jellybeans compete for your attention. This grand saccharine spectacle by Sheraton aims at creating awareness that Diabetes is NOT caused by sugar. It is a great way to show your kids this classic holiday tradition in Seattle for free.
2. Carousel
The Christmas carousel at Westlake park is one of the best free holiday attractions in downtown Seattle . Let alone the kids, even you won’t be able to resist the mix of twinkling lights and bouncing horses. This whirling symbol of holiday fun in Seattle will last just up until Jan 1st 2019, so hurry up !

3. Enormous Christmas Tree in Westlake park
While you are at Westlake park, don’t miss the enormous Christmas Tree that sparkles nearby. Tree lighting takes place on the thanksgiving weekend and stays throughout the holiday season to lift your spirits (and your head).

4. Winter fest and Free Ice – Sculpting in Seattle Center
If you have already explored the hidden gems of Seattle, then head back to the classic tourist spots of Seattle. The Armory at Seattle center showcases the most breathtaking re-creation of winter village. Vintage trains tumble past frozen lakes in this miniature model of a snowy village. Kids will enjoy starting and stopping the trains and all this can be enjoyed for FREE!
Outside Fisher Pavilion, very talented artists deftly sculpt ice into sparkling figures. Cost : Free. Score on family-fun meter : Extremely High.
5. Reindeer farm
Take a selfie with two of Santa’s lovable Reindeers at Swanson Farm. Your kids will never forget the time spent in close company of these real reindeers. This FREE event begins in November and ends on Dec 24th.
6. Macy’s – place your palm !
North Pole descends on Seattle as this downtown landmark sparkles in holiday glow. Macy’s store in Downtown Seattle crafts an exquisite winter village that you can bring to life by simply placing your palms on the glass screen. Extremely popular with kids, this is a FREE holiday attraction in Seattle that your kids will adore.
7. Garden d’LIGHT in Bellevue
When the sun goes down, a fantasy comes alive in Bellevue Botanical garden every Christmas. While a lucky few will get Free tickets to witness the evening painted in light, other will pay an entry fee of $5. Children under 10 can visit this fantastic garden decorated in a zillion lights for Free. Magical animals and cute characters are done up in whimsical lights. It is a sight to behold.
8. Teddy bear suite
The Teddy Bear Suite at Fairmont Olympic Hotel probably has the cuddliest decor in the whole world. Open daily from 10 am to 6 Pm including Christmas day, take adorable photos with hundreds of teddy bears in this uniquely Seattle holiday tradition.
9. HO HO HO ! Free Photo with Santa !
The world’s coolest Santa is right here in Seattle. Santa Claus and his reindeers have arrived at Space Needle in a crystal sleigh just for you ! Digital photos with Santa Claus in the revolving-glass-floor Space Needle are totally FREE! I know ! It’s too good to believe 🙂 This is the first and only kind of experience in the whole world – don’t miss it!
Space Needle Santa is available for Free Photos from Dec 21- Dec 24 from 11 A.M to 5 P.M. Make a dash there to lift your spirits ! Literally.
While photos with this adorable guy in red are getting pricier by the year, you can still get a photo with Santa for free in many parts of the city.
While Nordstrom and Macy’s Santa in downtown Seattle cost you between $20 – $50, you can get FREE (Bring-Your-Own-Camera) photos of Santa and your little ones at Pike Place Market and Children’s Museum. Just be on the lookout for Mr. Claus, as the free version tends to be a bit elusive. Also be prepared for long wait lines!
10. New Years Eve !
Just 6 days after Red and Green colors of Christmas, Seattle once again blossoms in Pink! Fuschia, magenta, blue and pink fireworks emerge from Space Needle in a spectacular display of color, light and fire. The sky lights up and marks the beginning of yet another gorgeous year in the Pacific NorthWest. Don’t miss the New Year fireworks at Space Needle which is a free and mesmerizing end of the Holiday Season.
