Grand Hyatt Taipei Review

Grand Hyatt Taipei Review

Overflowing with opulence, Grand Hyatt Taipei is Taiwan’s luxury 5-star hotel. Situated in the Xinyi District of Taiwan’s capital, we chose Grand Hyatt Taipei for its fabulous location. Not only is Grand Hyatt Taipei stellar, but it is also adjacent to Taiwan’s dazzling icon – Taipei 101.

We’ve long been admirers of Hyatt properties worldwide. Our celebratory trip to Grand Hyatt Kauai in Hawaii set this trend. Ever since, we’ve had wonderful experiences such Grand Hyatt Incheon where we sampled authentic Korean experiences and Hyatt Regency in Japan which was beautifully close to must see sights of Kyoto.

Two of our all time favorites are Park Hyatt Siem Reap in Cambodia and Park Hyatt Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City which was conveniently near Vietnam’s famous Ben Thanh Market.

Beautiful Taiwanese Calligraphy paintings heralded our arrival in this island

Reaching Grand Hyatt Taipei :

Taiwan’s Taoyuan International airport has a direct Airport shuttle that connects to Grand Hyatt Taipei.

If you are an Indian Passport holder who is traveling to Taiwan, then just apply for an online ROC (Republic of China) Travel authorization. The process is much quicker than obtaining a Schengen Visa for Europe.  It is instant if you have valid (or expired 10 yr) U.S, U.K , Schengen or Japan visa.

Before heading to Taiwan, we looked up the hotel’s location and thought it is fairly close to the airport. Well..what looked like 35 mins on the map translated to 2 excruciating hours in traffic!

Grand Hyatt Taipei – Ambience & Location

We are forever scouting for abodes that are immersed in local charm – Whether it is a Riad in Morocco or a Villa in Ubud. While selecting Grand Hyatt Taipei, we expected authentic Taiwanese ambience and attention to detail. That is exactly what we got!

If it’s fantastic location right next door to world famous Taipei 101 is not enough then wait there’s more. A direct sky bridge connects Grand Hyatt Taipei to Taipei 101!

So go indulge in upscale restaurants and fancy shopping ! Grand Hyatt Taipei is perfectly located in Taipei’s vibrant Xinyi district and close to Tong Hua Night market.

Grab a map and off you go exploring!

Two MRT stations are in close vicinity to Grand Hyatt Taipei, so you can visit iconic spots in Taipei. Such as Longshan Temple, National Palace Museum, National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial and Raohe Street Night Market. If you’ve read my post about offbeat experiences in HongKong, then you’ll know why I love local markets.

Rooms at Grand Hyatt Taipei :

Our cozy yet spacious room had a comfortable King bed, complimentary Wi-Fi, a fully stocked minibar and a 47” Full HDTV. Our room cost about NT$8100 per night ( Approx $ 260 USD). It did not have a view of Taipei 101 though.

The automated day and night blinds by bedside was a nice touch for our weary bodies.

Our room was tastefully decorated with a perfect blend of Asian and western elements. Scripts in Taiwanese calligraphy adorned the walls. In Taiwanese culture, oranges are considered auspicious and bring good fortune. There was a complimentary bowl of those waiting for us when we got in.

Beds were spacious and extremely comfortable, pillows were perfect. Beautiful marble bathroom impressed us with walk-in shower and luxurious bath tub. Automatic toilets reminded us of some funny incidents from our holiday in Seoul. The bathroom was stacked with a decent selection of June Jacobs soaps and creams. The whole room and hotel was spotlessly clean.

Whether it is traveling to Europe with kids or Asia, we look for attention to details. The little things that make a family holiday joyful. Grand Hyatt Taipei knew how to do it. The staff had kept Stuffed toys and complimentary kid’s accessories which made N really happy.

Complimentary tea and coffee was a welcome change. While driving across gorgeous places in Iceland, We’ve had to make do with insipid tepid coffee from a flask.

That experience makes me appreciate Grand Hyatt Taipei’s in-room Nespresso machine, unlimited coffee pods and kettle to make myself as many hot cuppas I liked.

Room Service was warm and flawless. We ordered as soon as we stepped in. Flying long distance with kids can make mom more hungry than you think!

Room Service : Warm Dumpling soup after a long flight from Seattle , yes please!

Restaurant @ Grand Hyatt Taipei

Ok this topic needs a whole new blog post. The restaurant is a paradise for food lovers like us. It kept churning out one delicacy after other. When you go to Taiwan, I urge you try all authentic Taiwanese experiences, the island has to offer.

Finest noodles I’ve ever seen
Sweet and Sour Tofu for breakfast with noodle – Yumm!
Chole Puri , Poha – Typical Indian breakfasts – We were pleasantly surprised!
Crisp and fresh greens to go in pot of boiling broth

How to do that ? Start by sampling Taiwan’s local dishes – from delectable dumplings to  tapioca pearls in a Boba tea. At Grand Hyatt Taipei, try the morning buffet. It is simply spectacular.

Unique dumplings and wild Shiitake mushroom rice.

The spread was mind blowing – It was Asia in a nutshell. N had ‘Aam Ras Puri’ for breakfast which is an authentic Indian breakfast. While I and Sandeep dug into all the authentic Cantonese and Taiwanese delicacies. Live stations categorized by cuisines whipped up everything from delicious sushi to stir fried rice.

They have a mind boggling variety of of Western breakfast too. Breads, eggs made to order, sausages, muffins and a whole lot. We didn’t have any of those since we were too busy digging in the flavors we miss in U.S.

Thats it from me on Grand Hyatt Taipei. Hope you all enjoy this place as much as we did ! Have you been to Taiwan? What’s your favorite experience from there?
